FieldNook Terms of Use

Effective date: September 4, 2026

These Terms of Use govern FieldNook, a mobile application operated by Epicalin LLC ("Epicalin," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using FieldNook, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

App provider: Epicalin LLC, 1810 N Burning Bush Ln, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 1612, United States. Telephone: +1 312 401 4626. Email: support@epicalin.com.

1. Eligibility and consumer rights

You must have legal capacity to accept these Terms. A parent or guardian is responsible for supervised use by a minor. Nothing in these Terms limits nonwaivable consumer, privacy, accessibility, warranty, or other statutory rights that apply where you live.

2. App license

FieldNook is licensed, not sold. Subject to these Terms and the rules of the store from which you obtained it, Epicalin grants you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, nonsublicensable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, including permitted family sharing. Epicalin and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted.

3. Your content

You retain your rights in notes, photos, videos, voice notes, and other content you create. Epicalin claims no ownership of your field card collection. You are responsible for the content you capture, access to your device and store account, and any exported copy. Do not record or share content unlawfully or in violation of another person's privacy, intellectual property, or other rights.

4. Outdoor safety and app limits

FieldNook offers recreational noticing prompts. It is not navigation, emergency support, safety advice, a route guide, species identification, medical advice, or authoritative environmental guidance. It does not verify your location, outdoor presence, quest completion, or badge conditions. Stay aware, use permitted routes, follow official guidance, respect property and wildlife, and make your own safety decisions. Contact local emergency services in an emergency.

5. Local storage, recovery, backup, and export

FieldNook stores its collection locally and has no Epicalin content sync account. It keeps rotating local recovery snapshots. Device backup and restore are supplied by Apple or Google when available and enabled. Export destinations are selected and controlled by you. Before uninstalling, resetting, replacing, or losing a device, verify platform backup or create an exported backup. Epicalin cannot access or restore your private collection.

6. Standard access

During the first two app weeks, all four weekly quest paths are available and completing a quest reveals another option. Beginning with app week three, one rotating weekly quest path remains available. Captured moments, existing field cards, pins, favorites, badges, reflections, automatic recovery, and backup remain available without a paid product. Available features may change in a later version, subject to store rules and applicable law.

7. Trail Pass and Forever Almanac

FieldNook Trail Pass opens all weekly quest paths and paid keepsake sharing features. It is offered as monthly and annual automatically renewing subscriptions. FieldNook Forever Almanac is a one time, nonconsumable purchase that opens the same paid capabilities on the platform where it was purchased.

The United States reference prices are $0.99 monthly, $9.99 annual, and $29.99 lifetime. Monthly and annual plans each include a seven day trial only when the store reports that you are eligible. The store displays the authoritative localized price, taxes, trial eligibility, billing period, renewal terms, and confirmation controls before purchase.

Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account. Unless canceled, a subscription renews automatically at the price and period shown by the store. Cancel through store account settings before renewal. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. The store administers refunds, billing disputes, grace periods, account holds, and family eligibility under its rules.

Restore Purchases checks the store account signed in on the device. Purchases do not automatically transfer between Apple and Google because FieldNook has no Epicalin account. If paid access ends, existing content remains available. Paid quest paths and paid keepsake exports become unavailable until access is restored.

8. Complimentary device grants

Epicalin may grant paid capabilities to one random Installation ID for support, quality assurance, or promotion. A device grant is discretionary, has no cash value, may expire, and may be revoked for misuse or when its stated purpose ends. It does not alter, replace, cancel, or refund a store transaction and does not transfer to another installation.

9. Sharing features

Paid access can create an image, PDF, or text keepsake and open the platform sharing menu. You choose the destination and are responsible for reviewing the generated content before sharing. Epicalin is not responsible for a destination's availability, privacy, retention, or conduct.

10. Reminders and reviews

Local reminders are optional and require your choice before notification permission is requested. Store review prompts may appear only after meaningful use. A review is voluntary. No incentive is provided, and FieldNook does not condition access on a rating.

11. Support and feedback

Contact, feature request, issue report, and diagnostics channels are optional and are not emergency services. Do not submit private field card content, credentials, payment information, identity documents, health information, unlawful content, or confidential third party information. Diagnostics are never sent automatically and exclude private content. If you provide an idea or feedback, you grant Epicalin a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free right to use it without an obligation to implement or compensate, while you retain ownership of your private app content.

12. Acceptable use

Do not bypass purchase or security controls, interfere with operation, introduce malicious code, use FieldNook to harm people, property, wildlife, or environments, or use the app in violation of law. You may not copy, redistribute, rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or reverse engineer the app except where a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

13. Intellectual property

FieldNook software, design, documentation, branding, prompt collection, badge art, and original content are owned by Epicalin or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant rights to Epicalin names, logos, or other marks.

14. Third party and platform services

Apple, Google, Cloudflare, backup providers, and destinations you choose provide services under separate terms. Epicalin is not responsible for a third party's account, content, security, retention, availability, or conduct. Mandatory store terms control when they conflict with these Terms.

15. Export controls and sanctioned parties

You may not use, export, reexport, or provide FieldNook except as authorized by United States law and the laws of the place where you obtained it. You represent that you are not prohibited from receiving the app under applicable trade restrictions and are not on a United States Government prohibited or restricted party list. Store availability does not override legal restrictions.

16. App changes and availability

We may maintain, update, replace, suspend, or discontinue features or the app. Updates may be required for compatibility, security, law, or store requirements. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, future features, support for every device, or perpetual store availability. Completed purchase and consumer rights remain subject to applicable law and provider rules.

17. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FieldNook is provided as is, as available, and with all faults, without express, implied, or statutory warranties, including merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, title, and noninfringement. We do not warrant that the app, prompts, backup, recovery, export, entitlement, or store services will be error free, uninterrupted, secure, complete, or compatible with every device. Mandatory rights remain unaffected.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Epicalin and its officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or use arising from FieldNook, outdoor activity, backup or export failure, device loss, or inability to use the app, even if advised of the possibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for claims relating to FieldNook will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for FieldNook in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 50. These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other liability that cannot legally be limited.

19. Termination

You may stop using and uninstall the app at any time. Cancel subscriptions separately through the store. Epicalin may terminate the license if you materially breach these Terms or if continued availability creates legal or security risk. Provisions that should survive by their nature remain effective after termination.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Illinois law, excluding conflict of law rules. Subject to nonwaivable local consumer rights, disputes will be brought in state or federal courts serving Cook County, Illinois. Consumers in jurisdictions with mandatory local protections retain those protections and available forums. Before filing a claim, contact support@epicalin.com so the parties can attempt informal resolution. This does not prevent urgent relief or use of a regulator, small claims process, or another nonwaivable right.

21. General terms, changes, and contact

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about FieldNook. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum necessary and the rest remains effective. A waiver must be express. You may not assign these Terms without consent. Epicalin may assign them as part of a corporate transaction or by operation of law, subject to mandatory rights.

We may update these Terms for legal, security, store, or product reasons. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Questions may be sent to support@epicalin.com or to Epicalin LLC at the address above.
